Your gift is tax-deductible. The Final Turn, Inc. is an official 501(c)(3) nonprofit, recognized by the IRS as a public charity under Section 170(b)(1)(A)(vi) (EIN 42-3798360). Donations are 100% tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. Our exemption is effective July 13, 2026, our date of incorporation, so it covers every gift we have received. You can read the determination letter. You'll get a tax receipt for your donation: give online and Givebutter, our donations partner, emails it to you right after your gift; give by check and we'll send one ourselves. If you receive something in return, such as an auction item, only the amount above its value is deductible, and payments for the care of your own horse are not charitable contributions.

Hay & Feed
The largest recurring expense. Each horse requires quality hay, grain, and supplements appropriate for their care plan.
Bedding & Stall Care
Shavings, stall cleaning supplies, and labor for daily stall maintenance — essential for health and comfort.
Farrier Care
Regular trimming and shoeing is critical for every horse in the barn — comfort in retirement starts from the ground up.
Veterinary Care
Routine wellness checks, dental and deworming schedules, and an emergency reserve — because a retired racehorse's health still deserves racetrack-quality attention.
Medications & Supplies
Prescribed medications, wound care, supplements, and other health-related supplies as directed by a veterinarian.
Program Operations
Staff compensation, insurance, and operational costs that keep the program running safely and professionally.
